Information for Patients
Healthcare is free to all UAE nationals, whom also benefit from generous health travel benefits as well for conducting health medical procedures abroad, which is covered by the Ministry of Health. Thanks to the continuous injection of cash into the health system, healthcare in the UAE is among the best in the world. Healthcare is regulated at both the federal level and local (Emirate) level. Private care is vast, numerous and of high quality in the emirates, with the majority of them focused in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, offering a range of services.

Information for Health Care Professionals
All medical professionals must have all legal documents both notarized and legalized by the  local UAE embassy and submit to the Emirati Ministry of Health which corresponds with the Emirate in which you intend to work, as well as relevant medical bodies for examination and verification. Those offered a position in the private sector will have to undergo further examination and certification prior to practicing in the UAE. Please speak with your potential employer prior to applying. Depending on the Emirate of employment, professionals may be required to understand and conform to local customs prior to arriving.

The language of medical instruction in the UAE is English.

Information for Travelers
A vast majority of doctors in the Emirates are expats, with the bulk located in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The UAE has a large amount of expat doctors and though the primary language in the UAE is Arabic, English can easily be spoken between patients and practitioners. In addition, with English as the primary language of instruction for medical education, a majority of doctors are fluent in English. Expats who relocate to the UAE are immediately given health insurance by their employer to cover their health expenses. Travelers are requests to take travel health insurance prior. Due to the high-quality healthcare in the Emirates (ranking 2nd in the World), medical tourism is extremely popular in the Emirates, especially Dubai which is developing Dubai Healthcare City which will feature a large cluster of high quality private healthcare in one area.
